Some people have a most unsusual birthday ― their birth-date occurs only once every four years. This is because they were born on a Leap Day, the extra day added to February each Leap Year to keep our calendar adjusted to the changing seasons.

【板書メモ】

(1) the extra day は a Leap Day と【同格】の関係にあります。

(2) added（過去分詞）は the extra day（名詞）を修飾する【分詞】（２月に加えられた余分な１日）。その際，名詞と過去分詞の間には 主語と述語の関係がかくれています。<The extra day is added to February.（２月に余分な１日が加えられる）

(3) keep+O+C

同格は中１，分詞は中３で学びます。

どうした国税？どうするニッポン！？

本日，税理士から申告書の提出が完了した旨の連絡を受けました。だからというわけではないけれど，公平な社会のために，本気でがんばってもらいたいと思います。

『この世で最も被害者が多い犯罪はなにか？』

その答えは，脱税。

税金は国民のために使われるもの。

それをごまかして正しい税額を納めないことは，

国民全員を被害者にするから。

公平で住みやすい社会のために，私にできること。

いまは，本気でそれを考えている。

＝ 自宅を追われた人々，（一時的に）避難している人々

（Sunshine 3, Lesson 4 / CROWN I, Lesson 3)

people displaced のように１語の分詞が名詞の後ろに置かれる場合，ある特定の状況で一時的な状態を表す。

displaced person は，（戦争・迫害などによって故国を追われた）「難民，流民」の意味になる。

❑ on the occasion of ~：に際して

❑ mourn：～を悼む，哀悼の意を表する

❑ the lives lost in ~：～で失われた命に

❑ that：［関係代名詞（主格）］中3

❑ strike-struck-struck：（地震などが）～を襲う

❑ extend one's sympathy to ~：～に同情を寄せる，心からのお見舞いを伝える
