伊藤和夫『英文解釈教室』より
The day has twenty-four hours and the week seven days. という文では、後半の the week と seven days の間に has が省略されている。このように A＋B＋C...，A'＋B＋C'... という形で、共通の構造を持ち一部の語句は同一である２つの部分から文が構成されるとき、同一の部分を後半では省略して（A＋B＋C）（A'＋C'）という構成をとることがある。

（人間の行動は理性の力によって、動物の行動は本能の力によって支配されていると昔は言われていた。）
